🍩 Cozy Fall Donuts | Dairy-Free & Egg-Free Recipe for Autumn

There’s nothing better than autumn baking — the smell of cinnamon, sugar, and something warm frying in the pan while a candle flickers in the background. 🍂✨ This week, I tried something different: homemade donuts with no eggs and no milk. Just simple ingredients, allergy-friendly, and oh-so-cozy.

These little cinnamon-sugar donuts are soft on the inside, golden on the outside, and perfect for cozy fall evenings with a hot cup of tea or coffee. The best part? They’re budget-friendly and super easy to make.

🥣 What Makes These Donuts Special

  • ✅ No eggs
  • ✅ No milk
  • ✅ Simple pantry ingredients (flour, lemon juice, baking soda, bicarbonate soda, water)
  • ✅ Allergy-friendly and family-friendly
  • ✅ Fried in grapeseed oil (lighter and cleaner than sunflower or vegetable oil)
  • ✅ Rolled in a classic cinnamon-sugar mix for that autumn warmth 🍁

🍂 Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate soda
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • ¾ cup water (add slowly as needed)
  • Grapeseed oil for frying
  • ½ cup sugar + 1 tbsp cinnamon (for coating)

👩🏽‍🍳 How I Made Them

  1. In a bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and bicarbonate soda.
  2. Add lemon juice and gradually pour in water until it forms a dough.
  3. Knead well and cover — I left mine overnight to rise.
  4. The next day, cut into small pieces and roll into balls.
  5. Heat grapeseed oil in a pan and fry the dough balls until golden brown.
  6. While still warm, toss the donuts in cinnamon and sugar for the perfect fall finish.

🍁 My First Attempt & Final Thoughts

This was my first try at making dairy-free and egg-free donuts, and I have to say — they turned out better than expected! The flavor was warm and slightly tart from the lemon, balanced by the sweetness of cinnamon and sugar. I’d give them an 8/10 for natural sweetness (if you like them sweeter, you could add dates or extra sugar to the dough).

The texture was light, the smell was pure autumn, and the whole vibe was cozy comfort food at its best. Perfect for families, allergy-friendly households, or anyone who wants a simple fall treat.
