The Rainy Jog That Changed Everything

It was 8:40 a.m.

Raining. Cold.

The kind of morning that makes you want to roll back into bed and pretend fitness isn’t real.

But I didn’t. I went outside. Jogged.

Half-soaked and smiling like I’d just unlocked a new level of peace.

That jog reminded me — resilience is a muscle. You build it by showing up, even when it’s uncomfortable. Even when the world’s telling you to quit.

If resilience had a gym membership, mine’s probably on auto-renew by now. 😅

💭

What We Talked About in My Live

During my live coaching session, I broke down what emotional resilience really looks like — not just in business or fitness, but in everyday life.

We talked about:

  • The guilt of slowing down as a parent.
  • The fear of falling behind while everyone else seems to be “crushing it.”
  • The power of consistency — how it carries you from walking to jogging, from surviving to thriving.

I reminded everyone watching: Self-belief isn’t about perfection. It’s about persistence.

It’s about showing up for yourself on the bad days, not just the good ones.

🧩

The Science Behind Resilience (And Why It Matters More Than Ever in 2025)

Research from the American Psychological Association (APA, 2025) found that emotionally resilient people are 32% more likely to adapt positively to stress and change — whether that’s financial uncertainty, job transitions, or personal setbacks.

Resilience isn’t luck. It’s built through habits:

  • Getting enough sleep (your emotional recharge station).
  • Moving your body (even a walk counts).
  • Journaling or reflecting (which helps regulate emotional response).

🧠 Neuroscientists call this neuroplasticity — your brain literally rewiring itself to handle future stress better.

💬 “You can’t control the waves, but you can learn to surf.” — Jon Kabat-Zinn

Every time you push through discomfort — even small moments like finishing that jog — your mind takes notes. It says, “We survived that. We can survive more.”

💼

The Business of Belief

On LinkedIn, we often see success stories that skip the messy middle. But every high performer has fallen — hard.

  • Oprah Winfrey was once told she wasn’t fit for television.
  • Serena Williams has spoken about rebuilding mentally after setbacks.
  • Sarah Blakely, founder of Spanx, credits failure for her billion-dollar mindset.

What they all share? Resilience and self-belief.

It’s the same quality that keeps entrepreneurs pushing through rejection emails or parents balancing work and self-care.

In your career, emotional resilience helps you manage feedback without losing confidence.

In your health, it keeps you committed long after motivation fades.

💬 “Discipline is remembering what you want.” — David Campbell

Building Emotional Strength Step-by-Step

Here’s what I shared during my live session and what you can start practicing today:

  1. Acknowledge Your Emotions:
Don’t rush to “fix” them. Sit with them. Write about them. (Use my favourite Wellness & Finance Journal to track your feelings + wins.)
  2. Move Daily:
Physical motion improves emotional regulation. Walk, dance, stretch — consistency beats intensity.
  3. Find Your Anchor:
Whether it’s prayer, nature walks, or morning journaling, have something that brings you back to peace.
  4. Practice Grace:
You’re not behind — you’re building. One choice at a time.
  5. Celebrate Every Step:
Every small win deserves recognition. That’s how momentum is built.

2025 Voices on Resilience

A few standout quotes from leaders this year that resonated with our theme:

“Success in 2025 will belong to those who can emotionally pivot faster than the market.” — Mel Robbins, March 2025 interview

“Resilience is a financial skill too. Emotional stability leads to smarter, long-term decision making.” — Clever Girl Finance, 2025 Podcast

“When you can’t see the top, focus on the next step.” — Jay Shetty, 2025

Journal Prompts to Strengthen Your Mind

  1. When was the last time I surprised myself by pushing through something tough?
  2. What would my life look like if I didn’t give up so quickly?
  3. What small act can I do today to prove to myself I’m capable?

📘 Tip: Journal your answers using my Amazon journal here.

🧭

My Journey: From Walking to Jogging

Before having my baby, I was a personal trainer who loved the gym — but also enjoyed a few too many nights out. Becoming a mum again changed everything.

No gym access, no time. But I refused to stop.

So I started walking. Then jogging. Then recording my progress on TikTok for accountability.

And slowly, my self-belief grew back stronger.

If you’re in your rebuilding season — take this as proof that it’s possible.

💬

Final Thoughts

“Don’t fear the fall. Fear staying down.”

Resilience doesn’t mean you never fall — it means you always rise higher than before.

Your bounce-back is your breakthrough.
