🧸 How I Dismantled the Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo (Leaping Leopard) With a Butter Knife — No Tools Needed!

When my daughter finally outgrew her Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo (Leaping Leopard edition), I thought I’d need a full toolkit and an afternoon to take it apart.

Spoiler: I didn’t. 😅

After a few searches and a lot of fiddling, I realised I could get the whole thing compact enough for storage using nothing but a butter knife — and I didn’t even have to undo the hanging tree toys or take apart the full base!

Here’s exactly how I did it so you don’t have to wrestle with plastic tabs or guess which clip to press.

✨ What You’ll Need

  • A butter knife (or a flat-head screwdriver if you prefer)
  • A soft cloth or towel (to protect the plastic while prying)
  • A bit of patience and space on the floor

🪛 Step-by-Step: How I Dismantled the Jumperoo

  1. Clear a little floor space.
Lay down a towel so the base doesn’t scratch your floor.
  2. Start with the seat tray.
Gently lift and twist; it’ll pop off easily once you find the tabs.
  3. Use the butter knife to release the clips.
I slid the knife under the third clip on the side — press gently and you’ll feel it give way.
👉 That’s the key step! Once that clip is free, the rest loosens up nicely.
  4. Don’t touch the hanging tree bits or base.
You don’t need to! I left the hanging toys exactly as they were — the frame still folds enough to fit into storage.
  5. Fold and store.
Everything fits together once you unclip that one side. Wrap the seat and toys in a soft cloth or pop them in a storage bin.

💡 Quick Tips

  • Wipe the pieces with a baby-safe cleaner before storing or reselling.
  • Keep any loose parts in a small labelled bag.
  • Add a couple of silica gel packets if it’s going into long-term storage (to prevent damp).
