As parents, we all want to see our children’s hair thrive — but when my daughter experienced early hair loss from cradle cap and baby scalp buildup, I knew I had to take a gentler approach.
Over the past year, I’ve learned that the secret isn’t in tight braids or heavy products — it’s in low-tension hairstyles, mild oils, and scalp-friendly care routines.
Here’s what has worked for us:
πΏ 1. Low-Tension Styles
I avoid tight cornrows or styles that pull on her scalp. Instead, I create simple, loose ponytails and twists that let her scalp breathe. This prevents breakage and supports natural growth.
πΈ 2. Mild Oils for Scalp Health
I use a homemade blend of rosemary oil, peppermint oil, and tea tree oil diluted in a carrier oil (like coconut or jojoba). These oils increase circulation, reduce itchiness, and promote hair growth — especially for babies with sensitive skin or eczema.

π Evidence & Research
- Rosemary oil has been shown to support hair growth by stimulating blood circulation to the scalp (PubMed Study, 2015).
- Tea tree oil has antibacterial and antifungal properties, helping to maintain a clean, healthy scalp (National Library of Medicine).
- Peppermint oil can increase dermal thickness and follicle count, enhancing growth (Toxicological Research Journal, 2014).
𧴠3. Gentle Moisturising Routine
I refresh her curls using My Little Coco Flyaway Fix, My Little Coco Moisturising Cream, and water in a spray bottle. Hydration and light moisture keep her scalp calm and her curls soft.
π Progress Update
Her hairline is fuller, smoother, and stronger now — a beautiful reminder that patience and gentle care pay off.
This her hair line currently here hair is growing back fuller I don’t style her edges as this will break them.
This was when I started mixing my oils for her hair.
This a few months ago her hair line was reduced due to cradle cap.
In the previous blog post you can see hair hair was thinning and she had a bald patch on the back of her head now it’s filling in lovely.
